What is the ADOS-2?
The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule - Second Edition (ADOS-2) is a gold standard, semi-structured assessment tool used to observe communication, social interaction, play, and restricted or repetitive behaviours associated with autism. It is part of the broader diagnostic picture and is typically used alongside history-taking and clinical interviews.

The process involves selecting the appropriate module based on age and language level and administering structured tasks designed to elicit behaviours that help with diagnostic decision-making.
ADOS-2 Assessments at ABC Therapy
At ABC Therapy, our occupational therapists are trained in the ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule - Second Edition), a tool used to support the assessment of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The ADOS-2 helps us understand how your child communicates, interacts, plays, and engages socially. While a paediatrician or specialist makes the formal diagnosis, our assessment provides insights necessary to support recommendations.

Comprehensive,
Person-Focused Assessments
Our approach highlights your child’s strengths and challenges and informs practical next steps for therapy, support, and everyday life. Alongside ADOS-2 observations, we consider daily living skills, routines, and sensory needs to build a full picture of your child’s abilities.
